Unhappy at your job? You"re not alone. Even Americans who are lucky enough to have work in this economy are apparently becoming more dissatisfied with the daily grind.
"I work in a Bar&Restaurant, they all complain, so, this little parts I always... could be better for other people. "
The decline can be partly blamed on the recession, or since the 1930s. But a new survey has found that worker dissatisfaction has been on the rise for more than two decades.
"We have seen a tremendous deterioration in satisfaction among U.S employees over the last 20 years. Back in 1987, about 60% of our workers said they were satisfied. Today, it"s down to 45%. "
And the frustrations aren"t confined to just one aspect of employment. "Well, we"ve really seen that dissatisfaction growing among all aspects of the job, whether its job security, wages, recognition, bonus, potential for growth, all these areas have seen a tremendous erosion over the last 20 years.
While many people say they"re unhappy, there are ,at least, some who are not. "I like doing it. I have fun doing it. It"s not a job that I want to leave right away."
"I like what I do, I"m in the service industry, I like having people enjoy their meal when they"re coming and leaving satisfied and happy." Some economists say that if the job satisfaction trend is not reversed, it could stifle innovation and hurt America"s competitiveness and productivity.
