论坛邀请了近60位中外演讲嘉宾。在今天下午的主题对话会和两场分论坛上，上海市政协副主席、中欧国际工商学院院长朱晓明，绍兴市市长钱建民，中国经济改革研究基金会国民经济研究所所长樊纲，eBay总裁兼首席执行官约翰•多那霍等嘉宾分别围绕“城市化、经济转型与企业应对”、“城乡互动与公共服务均等化”和“增长模式转变与经济可持续发展”的主题展开演讲和讨论。
多国政府部门官员、城市市长，世博会参展方代表、城市最佳实践区代表，中外经济学家、社会学家、企业家及记者600多人出席论坛。
展示、论坛与活动是上海世博会三大组成部分。论坛既是世博会精神遗产的集中体现，也是展望世博会未来的重要平台。上海世博会期间将举办一场高峰论坛和六场主题论坛，主题论坛先后在长三角地区的宁波、苏州、无锡、南京、绍兴和杭州等六个城市举行。
绍兴是一座有着深厚文化积淀的历史名城，也是浙江省唯一承担工业转型升级综合配套改革试点的城市。近年来，绍兴市把构建现代产业体系作为建设生态宜居城市的根本，按照“低消耗、高效益、可持续”的要求积极调整产业政策，并致力于城中村、园中村的改造，加快推进城郊新农村建设。
About 600 experts, pavilion staff and officials gathered today in Shaoxing, a historical city in Zhejiang Province, to share visions on economic transformation and urban-rural relations at the fifth theme forum of Expo 2010.
They talked about urbanization, urban-rural interaction, equalization of public services, innovative growth models, and sustainable economic development.
The two-day forum will discuss opportunities and challenges in urban and rural development and how to transform an agricultural society into an industrial one.
The participants will explore good urban and rural models for sustainable and coordinated development as well as solutions to problems arising from economic transformation, Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng said at the opening ceremony.
Other speakers included Zhao Hongzhu, Party chief of Zhejiang Province, Zhang Xiaoqiang, vice minister of the National Development and Reform Commission, and James W. Adams, World Bank vice president for East Asia and Pacific.
The World Expo 2010 has six theme forums. The last one will be held in Hangzhou next month with "Harmonious City and Livable Life" as its theme.
