仪式上，来自印度的舞蹈演员们身着民族服装为现场来宾带来了一场充满印度风情的舞蹈表演。据悉，在世博会期间，印度人民还将把美味的传统美食、精彩的瑜伽表演、精致的手工制品等带到黄埔江畔，带给来自五湖四海的游客们。
上海世博会印度国家馆位于世博园区A片区。展馆大门、广场及中央穹顶的设计灵感分别来自印度的“Siddi Syed”寺、兰普尔宫殿和桑奇佛塔。馆內设置由古至今的城市时空之旅，参观者可通过影像“时空隧道”游览四五千年前的古印度、中世纪印度和现代印度，感受印度丰富的传统文化、多样化的宗教信仰、传统与现代科技的发展、城市和农村的融合。

A major traditional dance performance will be staged in the Expo Center tonight.
The one-hour show will present a famous Kathak dance "Punarnava" by one of India"s leading troupes, The Kathak Kendra. It is led by renowned Kathak artist Geetanjali Lal.
Kathak dance is one of India"s eight classical dance forms. The origins of the ancient dance are traced to the nomadic bards of northern Indian, known as Kathaks or storytellers.
They told tales from mythology and scripture, embellishing with hand gestures and facial expressions.
Punarnava means "new once again."
The dance was choreographed by Kumudinin Lakhia, a leading Kathak choreographer and a guru in her own right.
Lakhia is internationally acclaimed for contemporizing classical dance while keeping traditional aspects centerstage.
She has taken the traditionally solo dance form and turned it into multidancer choreographies combining purely classical movements and style with distinctly contemporary uses of space.
The 4,000-squaremeter India Pavilion is themed "Cities of Harmony." It is a huge domed traditional earthcolored structure, but inside it is filled with modern technologies.
Exhibitions feature integration between rural and urban regions.
Inside, the dome is a 360-degree screen showing life in Indian cities. Culture, cuisine, economy, environmental protection and urban development are featured.
