The 29-year-old climbed down the side of the bridge and ran with traffic just inches away. The police spotted him in seconds and put him in the back of a patrol car until he told the story.

And the proposal did end happily ever after, after all. Walling did retrieve the ring and now has a story for the ages. "I had to get the ring back. Because it was a ring I picked up for her. And I want her to have it forever.”
